There is currently a great writeup by one of the developers of The Hero of Allacrost on one of the subjects that I get all the time as the main developer of Hardwar. I really suggest people go read it because I think it’s very insightful for users that always ask if we’re done yet or near release.
Unlike the HoA that has to develop an engine, editor and a game we have a lot less work to do. The engine we use is Ogre3D and the editor is Ogitor.
Resource wise we could really use more contributors from programmers. That would really push the development speed up. Currently it’s only me on the programming side hence the slow pace of development.
Personally I am fine with this as it’s my hobby. I gain enjoyment from developing this game so lack of progress doesn’t leave me demotivated. I know there are others out there waiting for this to be released. All I can really suggest is getting more involved so that we can speed up the pace and get stuff out the door.
I would like to contribute, possibly work on programming. Anything really, as this was one of the first games I ever played. My question is why are you using Ogre3D and Ogitor?
I am also curious what is the programming language?
- Both are free and open source that allow as many people to contribute without any problems.
- Ogre 3D has many commercial games using it, is very well documented and compiles on many different platforms.
- Ogitor is a little more rougher in terms of UX however quite usable for our needs, it also runs on ogre itself so integration is easier. So far it’s the best editor i’ve seen that’s Ogre based.
Hi there,
I’d just like to voice my support for keeping Hardwar alive it was a special game that got the rare mix if elements to be timeless.
I’m no programmer but is there anything else you could use a hand with?
Hi,
Just wanted to offer my support as well. Hope to see something awesome from you guys soon!
Is this project dead?
No, it’s a project I do in my spare time as a hobby.
Hello,
I’ve been keeping up with this project for a few months now and I can’t wait for it to be completed. I only got to enjoy the game for a while before the copy that I had was lost. I see that the programming aspect is covered however I didn’t see anything on the soundtrack. I would be really interested in rewriting the in game music or maybe making all new compositions. Please contact me at the email address posted. I would really like to contribute in anyway I can. Thank you for remaking this awesome game!
